About Bokashi

To understand why feeding bokashi is so important, we look at the relatives of our pets that live in the wild. These animals mainly eat meat and a small portion of plant food. When eating their prey, the intestines are also eaten, and in particular the contents of the stomach of herbivores. In the stomach of these prey animals, we find fermented grasses, seeds, herbs, leaves, fruits and nuts. A predator that eats this stomach provides itself with crude fibre, vitamins, minerals, micro-organisms and other important substances that keep digestion optimal.

The contents of the stomach of a prey animal already contain partially digested food (fermented by the micro-organisms present there) and are therefore comparable to bokashi. Also in the further digestive system, behind the stomach, these micro-organisms are essential to achieve good digestion and fermentation of the food. This develops an optimal capacity in the relatively short digestive system to optimally utilize the food. These micro-organisms are mainly absent in dry food and other food that has been strongly heated.

A good way to achieve good digestion and fermentation of the food is to add dirty raw tripe. However, dirty tripe is often, unless it has an organic quality mark, from animals from intensive livestock farming where medicines and antibiotics are used. You can therefore ask yourself whether this tripe is still healthy for your animal. Bokashi is a perfect alternative for this.

Bio-Ron's Bio-Bokashi is controlled fermented by positive EM micro-organisms until the product has reached a PH of < 4. This keeps the product stable and gives it a long shelf life. Maintaining stability is also the effect and function that bokashi has in the digestive system of the carnivore. With bokashi you have a pleasant to feed, essential part of the diet that corresponds to the contents of the stomach of a healthy prey animal.

Bokashi can be fed in a cure, for example 1-2 tablespoons per 10 kg body weight per day for a month. You can also start with a cure, the so-called cleansing process and then continue feeding a maintenance dose. You can increase or decrease the bokashi at any time, depending on the condition of the dog. With bokashi you can quickly build up a healthy intestinal flora again. And if all goes well, you can switch to just teaspoons.

The better the diet suits the animal in question, the less bokashi is needed. For all meat eaters, this means that raw meat food (as opposed to heavily processed dry food) suits the animal's nature best and thus lays the foundation for healthy intestinal function. But in all cases, it turns out that bokashi should be an essential part of the diet of every meat eater. For more information about raw food, also read our dossier on versvoer.be .

By combining the bokashi with the Sanofor Peat Drench from Bio-Ron, a symbiotic effect is created. The two products support each other very well.

Storage advice:

Store in a stable cool place. Bio-Ron advises to use the jar within 3 months after opening, because they cannot see whether the bokashi is used and stored correctly by the consumer. Bokashi remains good as long as it continues to smell fresh and sour. If this is no longer the case, you can still use it as plant food for the soil, because bokashi is also used as a soil improver.
