Who are we?

As a health food store for animals, your pet's health is our top priority. We specialize in "species-specific" food: food that your pet, from an evolutionary perspective, would choose in nature. When compiling our range, we look beyond the (often attractive) packaging and apply strict criteria.

Our promises

  • Our products are guaranteed free of chemical additives, such as flavourings, fragrances and colourings.
  • We avoid cheap, useless fillers and choose products with as many high-quality and useful ingredients as possible.
  • Our range is completely wheat gluten-free and largely grain-free.
  • No deception: what is on the packaging is in it, and what is in it is on it.
  • We are ambassadors of "species-specific" nutrition and help to find the most optimal food for every animal.
  • We avoid products from the Far East as much as possible and prefer foods that are produced close to home.

Our team

Our team is always ready to provide you with expert advice and will be happy to help you find the most suitable products for your animal. Whether you visit our store in Wuustwezel or contact our customer service, we will be happy to answer all your questions.

Our founder: Falco

Cool4pets was founded thanks to Falco (°2006 †2019), Emmanuelle and Tim's dog who was struggling with health problems. They discovered the power of fresh food and quickly saw the positive impact that healthy food can have on a dog. From that experience, the idea arose to help other owners and their animals with advice based on their own insights. You can also read more about the history of Cool4pets in the timeline on this page.

Cool4pets through the years

2011

On September 17, Emmanuelle van der Lans opens her grooming salon with accompanying 'mini shop' (together ± 30 m²) at her home in Gooreind-Wuustwezel. The webshop was launched a few weeks before. Cool4pets is born!

2013

A new webshop is launched. Broadly speaking, the same one that was active until December 2024.

2014

There is an increasing demand for the private label snacks from other points of sale. The snacks that are still sold under the Cool4pets brand are getting a makeover and "Akyra" is born around Christmas.

2015

The store is moving to a new business unit on 22 June on the former Melkerij site near the centre of Wuustwezel. With a surface area of approximately 130 m², the range is being greatly expanded. In addition to products for dogs, there is now also food and snacks for cats. Partner Tim Peeters will now also work full-time for Cool4pets.

2016

The first Cool4pets 'open door weekend' will take place on 8 and 9 October. Five years of Cool4pets will be celebrated with a chip shop and lots of activities and stands.

2017

A second business unit will be put into use on the same site in November because the B2B activity is bursting at the seams. Cool4pets.biz is created and in addition to Akyra, the exclusive distribution for the British brand Eden Holistic Pet Foods for Belgium and the Netherlands is added.

2018

In February, Cool4pets.biz will be present for the first time with a stand at the Anido trade fair. Later that year, a new exclusive brand will be added to the B2B portfolio, the German MeatLove. In December, a 'Christmas popup' will be set up on the vacant upper floor of the store.

2020

After Emmanuelle and Tim have done everything together for almost 9 years, the first full-time employee will be a fact in November. For the first time since 2011, Cool4pets will get a new, refreshed logo and house style. In the meantime, ambitious plans are in the pipeline...

2021

In January, work will start on the interior of a brand new store at a then still secret location. On May 25, all Cool4pets activities will move to Baan 42 in Wuustwezel. The former Aveve underwent a major metamorphosis in the months before. With a retail area of around 700 m² and even more storage space, this is the biggest step in the history of Cool4pets.

2022

Due to the constant growth, the 3rd full-time employee will be welcomed in June. In the fall, 2 more flexi-jobbers will be added. This year, 137 solar panels will also be installed on the roof of the wholesaler.

2023

This year, Cool4pets will go from 3 to 6 full-time employees and from 2 to 6 flexi-jobbers. After years of working exclusively with DPD as a transport company, PostNL will join in September. Due to lack of space, the wholesaler will have a mezzanine and the store will have its own warehouse.

2024

The tradition of the 'open weekend' will be picked up again after 4 years of silence. The first Cool4pets Festival will take place on 4 and 5 October. The new location has room to make it a real festival with demos, workshops, lectures, around 20 exhibitors and various food trucks. With an attendance of around 3000 visitors, it is a huge success. On Saturday, December 14, Cool4pets will say goodbye to the website that was built in 2013 after more than 11 years of loyal service.
