Bamboo and rice husks
To create the biodegradable Beco Printed Bowls, bamboo fibers are mixed with rice husks, a by-product of rice cultivation. The natural strength of bamboo creates a hard and sturdy bowl, a good and sustainable alternative to plastic.

Do the BECO bamboo food and water bowls contain melamine?
Our BECO bamboo food and water bowls do not contain melamine and have recently been tested for formaldehyde. The food bowls comply with current European legislation guidelines and are safe for use with animals.
The NVWA advises against using melamine plastic tableware containing bamboo and/or corn fibres, because in many cases the bamboo material is mixed with melamine. When this mixed material comes into contact with hot liquids > 100 degrees, there is a chance that toxic substances such as formaldehyde will be released. This does not apply to our BECO bamboo food and drink bowls.
